Weathervane Components and Construction

Weathervanes available from Accent Millworks include a full-bodied ornament, steel rod, copper spacer balls and directionals. Depending on the specific model, these weathervanes are available in satin black baked enamel, gold, bronze, copper, verdigre, rust and pewter.

Verdigre is actually an artificial green finish designed to give the weathervane an antique appearance. While popular with many customers, others prefer a polished finish.

Choosing the Correct Size Weathervane

When selecting a weathervane for use with your cupola, you must first choose the right size cupola. Refer to cupola specifications and suggested uses.

Once you have made a cupola selection or identified the dimensions of your existing cupola, choose a weathervane approximately the same size as your cupola, within six inches either way. For example, if you have a 26 inch cupola, select a weathervane between 20 and 32 inches long.

Assembling and Installing the Weathervane

Our weathervanes come prepackaged with easy-to-follow assembly and installation instructions as well as an adjustable roof mount base. To assemble the weathervane, all you need is a screwdriver. The weathervane parts slide onto the rod and are secured by set screws. The adjustable mounting base facilitates simple, accurate installation to the cupola.
